Your Website No Longer Sells Only to People: AI Agents Need to Read It Too

|Viviana Oliveros

Agent-based experiences are moving from answering questions toward completing tasks: comparing options, navigating pages, collecting information, and sometimes participating in commercial workflows. Google has already published early guidance for websites preparing for this environment.

The recommendations look a lot like good web design: clear information, understandable structure, accessible content, consistent product data, and workflows that do not depend on visual tricks. Preparing for AI agents does not mean redesigning the internet. It means removing friction and ambiguity.

Practical takeaways:

  • Keep prices, policies, and product details easy to locate.

  • Use clear headings, labels, and semantic structure.

  • Test forms and purchase flows on mobile and with assistive technologies.
