Google Now Measures AI Search Visibility: Here’s the Metric to Watch

|Viviana Oliveros

For years, organic marketing was summarized through rankings, clicks, and impressions. In 2026, Google introduced more specific reporting around site visibility inside generative Search experiences, including AI Overviews and AI Mode. The implication is significant: a brand can shape a decision even when the user does not click immediately.

That means the dashboard needs to expand. Traffic still matters, but marketers should also watch which pages appear during informational searches, which topics gain visibility without a click, and whether branded searches increase afterward. The new question is not only “How much traffic did I get?” but “At which decision moments is my brand being seen?”

Practical takeaways:

  • Review Search Console by topic, not only by URL.

  • Connect organic impressions with branded searches and conversions.

  • Publish content that helps before the purchase, not just sales pages.
